I have been exploring Rhodes Greece for a couple of days before I started this new series of travel glimpses that will make you want to discover the island yourself.
The summer was almost there (I was writing this at the beginning of June) and it was already 28 degrees Celsius on Rhodes Greece.
But, do not be fooled, this island is not “just another beachy” place. It’s so rich in heritage and history with a few events that actually represent a couple of major breaking points for what Europe came out to be today. So, join me in exploring the Rhodes Greece, learning and writing about the place, while having Greek coffee in its various small villages.
Let’s soak up some sun together and enjoy the famous myths (since this is the island which belonged to none other than Helios the Sun god), visit one of the best-preserved medieval towns Crusaders have built, chase sandy beaches all around, and we might even take a cruise to a few other colorful islands nearby.
So, welcome to the island of the Sun god!

I couldn’t agree more. Rhodes is so much more than just a beach destination and I love the Old Town – the UNESCO Heritage site.
Oh yes, went around the Old Town couple of days ago, it’s just stunning!
I am in Datça now, right across Rhodes 🙂 My mum lives here, but unfortunately I’ve never had a chance to visit Rhodes, so I’ve gotten more excited with the new Glimpses series (but I love reading them all as I said before).
Hey, thanks! Here I am waving from Rhodes then. One day, who knows, I might come to Datca. 😉 Thank you very much, Ozlem! 🙂

Looking forward to learning more about Rhodes
Stay tuned, it’s the whole new series. 😉

I love Rhodes! I visited it for a day some years ago but it was not enough for all of its history and beaches!
A day wouldn’t be enough, not even for visiting the Rhodes town. But when you come again, try to spend a bit more time on the island. 😉
Rhodes looks incredible! I’d love a chance to visit the Greek islands
It is, I already fell in love with the island! The more I explore it, the more I love it. 😀

Rhodes looks like a place I will definitely have to visit when I go to Greece – beaches & history is right up my alley
The same here, perfect combination. 😉

There’s something special about Greek islands you cannot find even in the rest of the country, right! Love them too. 🙂
